We've got a few members, now! So, I'd like to do a contest! If you don't dye eggs, fear not! I want everyone to participate! I was thinking the first contest could have something to do with club promotion, like stamp-making or a club ID or something... Feel free to comment and let me know what you guys think ^^
Also, I need ideas on what to do for potential prizes, besides features and subs... I'd love to make the winner an egg, but I dunno how I'd ship that... All input is welcomed and greatly appreciated

Do you love to look at or make pysanky? Are you obsessed with egg art in general? Are your fingers more frequently dyed a funny color than not, due to said eggy obsession?

Well, then, you've come to the right place!!! Here we'll enable your unhealthy love affair with egg art and nurture it into an all-consuming addiction!

As you can probably tell, this club is brand-new to the world, so it may change a bit as the need arises. For now, I'd like this club to focus on art created on actual eggs using the wax-resist method used on pysanky, but by no means does it have to be traditional! I love it when artists use traditional means to create modern or non-traditional art. I'd like this club to drum up some interest in a rather under-appreciated art form!

Just what are pysanky? A pysanka (the singular form) is a Ukrainian Easter egg, decorated in a specific manner, which involves writing designs onto the egg with beeswax and dying it progressively, going from light to dark, usually. As with most ancient traditions, this one's steeped in symbolism and religious significance. The art form arose long before Christianity, and had more to do with spring and the renewal of life after winter. But as the new religion flourished, the "pagan" symbols on pysanky mixed and merged with Christian symbology and meanings were changed to better fit with new traditions such as Easter.
